There is currently no agreement on mutual recognition of driver's licenses between mainland China and the UK, so the mainland driver's license cannot be "changed" and can only be retaken. After you become a British resident, you can legally drive with a Chinese driver's license for up to 12 months. What is the relationship between changing to a British driving license and visa and permanent residence status?
