How to apply for urgent processing? 4-item checklist for $1,000 super priority

JustiScript•23 September 2026•👁️ 806

I think the expedited budget for permanent residency applications should be reserved for confirmed Super Priority; paid fingerprinting appointment, only worth buying if it really solves the on-site time issue.

1. Check if the route is open first ILR

As of September 23, 2026, Super Priority (Super Priority Service) usually aims to receive a decision on the next working day, but the specific time limit needs to be confirmed in combination with the identity verification date and method. The UK government's priority list for domestic applications separately lists visa applications, dependant applications, and settlement applications. For settlement applications, you need to check the "Eligible applications to settle in the UK" column, then refer to the specific route, form, and identity verification method. Settlement applications such as ten-year residency and spouse applications using SET(M) are listed under the "Onsite Verification" column with Super Priority, and the five-working-day Priority service is marked as unavailable. It is easy to mistakenly apply the optional service for renewal to settlement applications if only the row for work visas or family visas is seen; the same visa name cannot replace checking each row individually.

Same with SET(O), you still need to check the application basis. The qualification table lists different purposes separately; just by the form number, it is not sufficient to determine whether the super priority service can be used.

When actually applying, enter the online form according to the corresponding route. At the stage of selecting services, check whether Super Priority appears. Verify the fees and then make the payment. The official statement clearly mentions that the quota is limited. Even if the option does not appear, you can still complete the regular application. I will save the service selection page at that time, verify whether I am on the open route and whether the verification method corresponds, and then decide whether to check later. This official notice does not guarantee that there will be available spots at a fixed time every day, so it is not advisable to take a certain refresh time as a guarantee for submission plans; when the current permit is about to expire, timely and effective submission should be prioritized over waiting for availability.

2. What else was paid besides £1,000?

£1,000 is the premium additional fee per person. Home Office The charge list from April 8, 2026, still lists this amount, and the permanent residency application fee is paid separately.

The UKVCAS of the UK government lists additional charges for non-business hours, weekends, and same-day or next-day appointments. These options address when to arrive to submit biometric information. Super Priority corresponds to how the UKVI processes the application, and the two payments need to be checked separately. Before payment, the budget can be divided into three parts: application fee, super-priority service fee, and appointment and additional service fee. If the receipt only includes the appointment item, it cannot be used to determine that the application has entered the super-priority service ; obtaining an earlier collection time has practical value, but this expense should be measured against the saved waiting and leave costs.

"Next day reservation" and "receive decision on the next working day" are two separate services. The reservation page showing an earlier arrival time does not constitute a commitment to the processing time.

The family applying together also needs to be calculated by the number of people. The official expedited processing guide requires that each family member applying together with the main applicant pays the corresponding expedited fee and receives the decision at the same time; for example, if three applicants all use the super priority service, this additional fee alone totals £3,000, not including each individual application fee and possible appointment costs. Here, it is calculated by the number of applicants, those who already hold permanent residency and are not applying together with their spouse are excluded. UKVCAS also requires that family members within the same application must attend together, and when booking an appointment, it should be confirmed that everyone can attend.

3. Organize the materials to be directly reviewed.

I will leave a completed form before payment, and then check each item according to the list of materials generated from the application; the following set of organization methods is practical advice, not an additional legal requirement.

Each fact to be proven corresponds to a clear document location. For example, the file name clearly indicates the holder, content, and coverage period; when merged files are reopened, check each page to ensure it is clear, not reversed, or missing pages; any differences that need explanation should be written in a short note and refer to the attachment, avoiding leaving only a brief explanation in the upload remarks. When family members jointly use the same evidence, it should also be clear to the case reviewer how the document relates to each applicant. This approach does not guarantee no additional documents are needed, but it can reduce the chances of back-and-forth confirmation due to missing or unclear documents. When key evidence is known to be missing, I will first address the material gap before deciding when to make the payment.

Persons who have reached the check-in process need to bring a printed copy of the reservation confirmation document, passport or travel documents; if supporting materials are not uploaded online, prepare them according to the appointment requirements.

UKVCAS allows online uploading of supporting documents, and also scanning at the appointment. If you prepare to upload by yourself, you can keep a local copy of the folder consistent with the submitted version, and save the page showing successful upload; if you choose to scan on site, you can confirm in advance which services are included in your selected appointment and which documents need to be brought. After submission, check the email address that receives the application notification and the spam folder. If you have an agent's assistance, you can also make prior arrangements on who receives the notification and who replies to the additional documents, to avoid both parties assuming the other has handled it. Clearly explaining these contact arrangements in advance can also reduce waiting time during the supplementary document process.

4. After the delay, the notification record should also be kept.

If the estimated time limit has passed, when contacting UKVI, you can provide the application number, service fee receipt, identity verification record, and whether there is a notice for additional documents, which will help to check the specific progress. Customer service cannot commit to a decision date. The purpose of this contact should be to explain the delay and the situation regarding additional documents.

I will make another short timeline, listing separately the verification, required supplementary documents, response, and the date when the decision was received. Bank payment records can only prove payment, but cannot alone explain why the service was delayed; the application status has not changed, and it cannot directly prove that the refund conditions are met. When receiving a notice for supplementary documents, respond in the manner and within the timeframe specified in the letter, and keep the record of successful submission. The government's expedited guide states that once the required information is received, the application will be processed preferentially. At this point, you can clearly ask what is still missing and whether previous responses have been received, to avoid resubmitting different sets of materials.

Refunds need to be verified according to the reason. The UK government's expedited refund guidelines retain the situation where the application is not withdrawn and a separate refund request is made, but each case will be reviewed individually, and it is not automatically refunded just because it exceeds the estimated time.

There is one easily overlooked point: on page 16 of the "Immigration and Nationality Refunds Policy" updated on April 8, 2026, the situation "the application within the country has been decided within the announced time frame, but was not notified to the applicant within that time frame " is listed separately in the refund table, and the handling column requires a full refund of the expedited service fee. This means that when verifying, you should not only look at the date written on the decision letter, but also retain the actual email sent to notify and related records; if you open the email late, it is different from the notification being sent late, and the two need to be distinguished. When applying for a refund, clearly stating the specific situation you are based on will make the review process easier than generally writing "I waited too long."

This regulation applies to the urgent service fee, and it cannot be used to request a refund of the permanent residency application fee and the appointment collection fee together. The original text for handling the refund table is at the end of the text.
